CILT/MAHA Proposal
The Coalition for Innovative Laboratory Testing (CILT) has submitted a proposal to the White House’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission, focused on improving children’s health through school-based biomarker testing. This program would use simple, FDA-cleared tests in schools to measure markers like cholesterol, inflammation, and blood sugar. Families would receive secure, private results along with guidance to support better food choices and lifestyle habits.
By combining lab results with a personalized dietary scoring tool called the Children’s Dietary Inflammatory Index (C-DII), the initiative aims to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and mental health challenges in children. The proposal includes a pilot program involving 10,000 students across a variety of school settings and calls for future nationwide implementation.
CILT also recommends broader reforms, including support for diagnostic innovation, updates to lab testing regulations, and a shift in focus from prescriptions to prevention.
